Minister of the Gospel Paula Allen-Bobb makes a difference through her humanitarian projects and philanthropic initiatives

Paula Allen-Bobb’s story is one of inspiration, hope, and resilience. As an author, actress, missionary and minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, she has shared her story of victory, overcoming, and joy for the past ten years in Jamaica, and across countries in Asia working with women and children.

She was born in Jamaica and endured a childhood that was marked by economic deprivations, sexual exploitation, emotional abuse and adolescent pregnancy. The sordid details of her troubled and harrowing life were recounted in an interview she did with the Jamaica Beacon.

She grew up in a project in Kingston, Jamaica known as a Tenement Yard, and was exposed to abject poverty. In addition, the reality of mental illness struck home when her father began dealing with challenges in 1975.  Her material condition was far from ideal. She states that ,“The environment  was a pretty rough one.” Her family was intentional about ensuring that she received a good education and she left elementary school to attend Kingston Technical High.

Unfortunately, an untimely pregnancy aborted her secondary education, and she could no longer continue her studies. She told the Jamaica Beacon, “There was a lot of shame that surrounded that pregnancy. A lot of disappointment not finishing my education.” She tried to continue her studies after her son was born and at private colleges, but was not successful. It was truly a positive development when the chance arose to migrate to Canada in 1991 with encouragement from her mother, Marlene Anderson-Williams.

From her teenage years she was always drawn to the performance arts and participated in the Miss Jamaica Independence Pageant in 1987. She sings, acts and models. Writing was one of her strengths and she states, “I started writing all the way back from primary school. I would write quotes all over the place, all over the house.”

She wrote her first motivational book titled, “Let Go! Let Joy” subtitled memoirs of a church girl in 2020. Dr. Debra Warner, Psy.D read and highly recommends the book. She states, “This book paints a reflection of each individual as a piece of the puzzle creating their own destiny and describes how you can reframe disappointments. Reading this book is like chatting with an old friend. Thank you for this gift, Paula. It touched my heart and brought me an abundance of JOY!”

The official launch of the book took place on Saturday, July 24^th, 2021 in Toronto. In my email communication with Paula, she informed me that 10% of every book sold will go towards purchasing one for women incarcerated and in shelters. She adds, “The aim is to encourage, give hope and help them understand that letting go of the past is critical in deciding what kind of future they will have.”

She wrote on her Twitter @kingsdawta “If you truly desire to be happy you must let go of the things that are making you sad! Desiring Joy but refusing to let go of pain and sorrow is insanity. That was me until I made the decision to #letgoletjoy.”

She is married to Minister Tyrone Bobb who founded the Ministry Tyrone A.Bobb Healing & Deliverance Ministries in Toronto, Canada. Paula is passionate about philanthropic work and was inspired by her mother who was always helping and caring for others
