Healthy relationships are supposed to be celebrated

BY SYDNEE WALCOTT

Although relationships are not always butterflies and rainbows, the most important thing about a relationship is to keep it healthy by moving in the right direction.

Youtuber and singer Armon Warren and actress and social media influencer Reginae Carter, daughter of rapper Lil Wayne, have been happily in a relationship for the past six months. The couple recently celebrated their six-month anniversary with Warren gifting Carter a promise ring.

Not too long afterward, Carter took to Twitter to clap back at those who had something negative to say about the meaningful gift she received from her boyfriend in the following tweet:

“Y’all old a**** mad at my promise ring but been in 10-year relationships with a bunch of broken promises. Get you somebody to take care of your time, not waste it aunties.”

Warren also took to Twitter to stick up for his girlfriend, and had this to say in the following tweet:

“Ion fit with this generation. I guess I’m soft for loving my girl, AND showing her I appreciate Her!! I could never understand corny s***”

Receiving a promise ring may not be as big as an engagement, but a promise ring does show that two people are committed to each other and want to see their relationship develop even further.

I can understand where both Carter and Warren are coming from because it can be very challenging to build a meaningful relationship with someone in this day and age. This issue mainly stems from people showing more interest in just wanting to hook up with others.

We have seen this happen with rapper NBA Youngboy and his ex-girlfriend, Jania, and currently with rapper Blueface’s relationship with Chrisean Rock.

It is never a good idea to refer to anyone’s relationship as “goals” because no relationship is perfect. We also may never know what goes on behind closed doors.

When we see a couple happily in love with one another, and both doing their part to keep the relationship strong and healthy, we should celebrate that instead of raining on their parade when they continue to make positive steps in their relationship.
