The Poetic Word

Blinded Love or Not

“To continuously choose to love is the choice of a lifetime.”

Photographer: Clarke Sanders

Happy ever after’s.

Fairytale romance

Decorated with roses

Thrown down the aisle.

Each petal shares intimacy,

No doubts in love.

Best foot forward.

Putting aside needs,

Fully catering the other.

Like nature sacrificial devotion

Passing lineage,

Boundaries are crossed and tested

Every moment.

Wedding vows too good to be true,

For better or for worse

As rings represent matrimony

Till death do us part.

Like visions of water during the desert

May be bitter or a mirage.

Final chapter of a lifestyle,

Once entering signed agreement.

Leaving families to be one…

Can love alone be enough?

Is love a feeling or a choice?

Does one understand the true meaning of

Of growing old?

When the skin once firm & elastic

Starts aging with wisdom marks

From head to toe?

What happens during time of silence,

Disagreements boiling blood,

Would anyone not allow anger

Past bedtime?

All the hours on the phone,

Did traditions, upbringings

From childhood centered in conversations?

Or was it only how big is the house?

How many cars?

Would the love languages align

After the honeymoon phase is over?

Love is a choice every day,

Cannot be seen or enter blind.

Because love as feeling may sometimes

Fade.

But to continuously choose to love

Is the choice of a lifetime.
