Caribbean Travelers Embrace Anguilla’s Momentum

For an island famous for slowing life down, Anguilla seems to be moving forward at remarkable speed.

That may sound like a contradiction. After all, Anguilla has built its reputation on uncrowded beaches, gentle breezes, world-class dining, and a pace of life that reminds visitors that not everything needs to happen in a hurry. Yet beneath that calm exterior, something exciting is happening.

Across its 33 white-sand beaches, luxury resorts, cultural attractions, and tourism experiences, Anguilla is quietly evolving. The island is proving that growth does not have to come at the expense of authenticity. In fact, its latest tourism initiatives suggest the opposite.

For Canadian travelers looking for a Caribbean escape that feels both sophisticated and genuine, Anguilla is making a compelling case for itself. One of the clearest examples is the Anguilla Tourist Board’s 2026 summer campaign, Anguilla: Taste. Feel. Live.

The campaign goes beyond beautiful images and vacation dreams. It invites visitors to experience the island through its culinary traditions, cultural celebrations, heritage experiences, live entertainment, and beloved boat-racing culture. Instead of asking travelers to simply visit Anguilla, the campaign encourages them to connect with it. That distinction matters.

Modern travelers are increasingly searching for experiences that feel real. They want stories, culture, and meaningful memories, not just photographs. Anguilla understands this shift and is responding with a tourism strategy rooted in human connection.

Part of that strategy includes the launch of XCAPE, an innovative digital platform that acts as a personalized travel companion. The app provides curated destination information, interactive experiences, and real-time travel updates, making it easier than ever for visitors to navigate and enjoy the island. It is a sign that Anguilla is embracing innovation without losing its soul.

Leadership is evolving as well.

In May 2026, Minister of Health, Tourism and Sports Cardigan Connor announced the appointment of Sean A. Richard as Chairman of the Anguilla Tourist Board. With more than two decades of experience in tourism and luxury hospitality, Richard assumes the role during a period of significant opportunity. His appointment signals a commitment to collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth as Anguilla strengthens its position in an increasingly competitive global tourism market.

The numbers suggest that strategy is already paying off.

The first quarter of 2026 became the strongest opening quarter in Anguilla’s tourism history. Total arrivals reached 90,017 visitors, up significantly from 69,259 during the same period in 2025. Stayover arrivals climbed by nearly 25 percent, while March 2026 became the best-performing month ever recorded for tourism on the island.

Canadian interest is growing even faster. Canadian stayover arrivals increased by 40 percent during the first quarter of 2026, rising from 2,138 visitors in Q1 2025 to 2,993 in Q1 2026.

Accessibility is helping fuel that growth. BermudAir’s new seasonal route from Toronto Pearson Airport, connecting through Turks and Caicos, now offers Canadians a convenient same-day journey to Anguilla.

The timing could not be better. At a moment when travellers are craving authenticity, wellness, culture, and meaningful experiences, Anguilla offers something increasingly rare: a destination that has preserved its character while embracing the future.

The best destinations do not stand still. They honour what made them special while finding new ways to help visitors experience it. Anguilla appears to understand that better than most, and for Canadians dreaming about their next Caribbean getaway, that may be the most exciting development of all.
